Testimonials - Marie Scott:
Rediscovering an Old Friend

A Lifelong Dream Made Reality
Since early childhood, Marie Scott has felt the calling to be an artist. “I only paint things I think are worth remembering…I want it to feel like the sun is shining in my paintings,” she says, reflecting on her work, “My paintings should cause people to feel as if time has stopped in the midst of a near perfect day.”

Like many artists, Marie put her life passion on hold as she pursued other work. Despite becoming a very successful graphic designer, Marie never lost her ambition to paint. “All the while [I was] dreaming for the day when I could leave the computer and Pantone chips behind and bring out my messy oil paints,” she remembers. Although she struggled with the decision to leave graphic design and pursue her heart’s calling as a painter, she ventured on, and her choice is paying off. She recently printed her first giclee edition through pictureframes.com and is living her life as a professional artist. “I would continue to paint if I never made another dollar,” she declares.

Finding pictureframes.com All Over Again

Marie first found Graphik Dimensions Ltd. (the parent company of pictureframes.com) when she was in college. “Basically, the entire art department used Graphik Dimensions for their frames,” she says, remembering how she ordered from the company for her own juried art shows.

More recently, unable to sleep one night, Marie found herself shopping for frames, when she discovered the pictureframes.com website and saw an offer for giclee editions – something she had been thinking of doing for quite a while. Marie wanted her art to be attainable to everyone, “The limited edition prints make me able to offer my artwork at several different price points.” So, Marie ordered her first free proof. “It was beautiful,” she says. Marie marvels, “I think it is so interesting that I used your company so heavily from 1990-92 and then was ‘reunited’ with you again in 2005.”

A Friendship Built to Last
Jane [Rhem, Senior Editions Consultant] is the main reason I went ahead with my edition,” says Marie. “Had she not been so responsive and detailed in answering all my questions, I definitely would have just put off the project until a later date…”

Marie was thrilled with her giclee edition, “They exceeded my expectations. I have a series of 5 different offset prints that do not compare to the clarity and richness of the giclee edition.”

She sells ‘dahlia’ on her website, complete with pictureframes.com framing materials. “I’m able to get custom mats and frames at an affordable price with little effort on my part,” she says. Not a fan of constructing her own mats and frames, Marie loves the convenience of ordering them from us. “It’s too precise of a science for my artistic mind. I especially hate cutting mats. I did not even blink an eye [when purchasing] your precut mats for my edition.”

Her favorite feature at pictureframes.com is ‘My Gallery’, which lets her design framed pieces and compare them, price and all, side-by-side, making it easy and helpful to choose a framed and matted presentation.

The many possibilities we offer, combined with Marie’s ambition to reach her goals as an artist, signify a friendship built to last. “Hopefully in the future I will print other editions and use you for on-demand printing and framing,” says Marie. “I would like to remove myself from that part of the process some day.”

Living As a Professional Artist
Today, Marie enjoys a life full of color, light, contrast and beauty. “My favorite thing about creating art for a living is that my entire life blends together now. My ‘work’ is my joy and my passion… I think I could paint for years and years and still not come close to running out of ideas or the thrill of brushing the first splash of color across an empty white canvas.”
