Frequently Asked Questions About Framing Kits

Why Acrylic?

Acrylic has the same clarity and is half the weight of glass. It is shatter resistant, with non-glare and UV protection options available.

Which Framing Kit is Right For Me?

When selecting a framing kit, it's best to ask yourself three basic questions.

  1. What am I framing and how valuable is it?
  2. How long would I like to keep the presentation?
  3. How much am I willing to spend?

Each of our four frame kits offer different advantages depending on your framing needs.

Economy Framing Kit

This frame kit comes with corrugated backing and clear acrylic glazing. The acrylic is half the weight of glass, has the same clarity as glass and is shatter resistant. Along with the corrugated backing, this combination serves best for those who are budget-conscious and need to frame items that may have a short lifespan or that are easily replaceable. Perfect for:

  • Professional licenses that get renewed every year.
  • Digital snapshots that can be easily reprinted.
  • Inexpensive posters or commercially produced art.

Classic Framing Kit and Non-Glare Classic Framing Kit

Both of these frame kits come with foamcore backing board and acrylic glazing. Foamcore is a great choice because:

  • It has a higher level of protection for framed items than corrugated backing.
  • Its white finish preserves the integrity of translucent artwork well.
  • It can also double as a dust cover thanks to its neat, clean appearance.
  • It works well for dry mounting objects to the backing.

The Classic Framing Kit also has the same acrylic glazing as the Economy Framing Kit mentioned above, making it the classic choice for any framing job.

The Non-Glare Classic Framing Kit includes all the same benefits as the Classic Framing Kit, but with one major advantage: the non-glare glazing cuts down the glare on items in direct light or near windows.

Note: This kit should not be used with shadow boxes or presentations with more than two mats due to increased distortion.

Premium Archival Framing Kit

Our Premium Archival Framing Kit comes with acid-free foamcore and UV protective acrylic glazing. This framing kit grants the best protection when preservation is the primary concern. Both the foamcore and the acrylic glazing can help preserve an image for generations. This kit works best for items that are impossible to replace like:

  • Vintage family photos.
  • Priceless artwork.
  • Historic and heirloom documents.
