FL9 Gold Frame

We had been searching for a frame for this painting for several months, but could not find one due to it's non-standard size (10 X 14). This frame was perfect, and really accentuates the painting.

I am so glad I found this website. This frame was perfect for a canvas painting we purchased in Paris. This was a fraction of the cost you would pay at a craft store or custom frame shop. Thank you!!

I care about these two people deeply and my portraits of them. I wanted something special to showcase and pay tribute to them. This frame fit the bill. It's got lots of wonderful detail and textural interest without being gaudy. The gray patina wash is the perfect final touch. It's also a great value not that money was an object in these two cases. I would definitely buy again when appropriate.

It is a deep frame, which I used to make a floater frame for a painting on wood. Rich gold color.

This is a very nice frame, well built, solid and rather heavy. To me the heaviness indicates quality, so I don't mind that it is on the heavy side. I will be framing a pastel painting in it, which will require glass, which will add to the weight, but I think it will still be reasonable.

I don't like that the lip of the frame that holds the painting in is so thick. It is so thick, relative to the size of the frame that I ordered (12"x16"), that it casts a substantial shadow on the edges of the painting. The lip itself measures almost 3/4" thick, and when I add the glass (1/8") and spacer (1/8") it will be about 15/16", almost a full inch, from the front of the frame's lip back to the surface of the painting. So you can imagine the shadow it casts on the painting. It would not be such an issue on a larger frame of this design, but for this small size, it is quite noticeable. The buyer of this painting will have to carefully consider its location to minimize the shadow.

I took off one star for that issue, and I thought about taking off another star for the shipment problem I had. The frame was shipped on August 17 from North Carolina. I tracked it to California, where it spent a week in the UPS facility in San Pablo, only 2 hours away from me. Finally I called them, only to find out it had been shipped back east. I finally got the frame on September 4th, 19 days after shipping. And the package looked as though it had spent a year traveling from Timbuktu. I had never seen a package so mangled. But it's a testament to the quality of the frame itself that it was completely unharmed.

I'm sure my mangled, delayed shipment was an exception; it was not the fault of PictureFrames.com, and the frame was safe, so I'm not taking off another star for that.
I really like the quality gold finish and the sturdiness of the wood construction. I would heartily recommend this frame for its beauty and quality, but because of the lip thickness, only for larger size paintings, say 24"x30" or larger.

A deep inset that is not seen on the order page. It is however documented correctly if you find the correct page where a more three dimensional view is shown. I found this only after I received the frame. Customer Service was very good though and offered a refund.
