The crackled gold leaf of this Plein Air picture frame gives it a striking antiqued look and makes it one-of-a-kind. Beautiful but unusable for me :(
I love the look of this frame but CAUTION the rabbet depth is only 3/8". This is not acceptable for me since I am framing a 16x20 soft pastel that needs spacers. I am extremely disappointed since the web page clearly identifies 1/2" rabbet depth. It is really important to get this information correct on your web page.

Great Frame!
I really like these"plein aire" frames. I use both these crackled ones and the plain ones for studio paintings. They are sturdy and well made and enhance my landscape oil paintings without adding any distraction. I will keep buying both the gold and silver ones! Here's a painting framed in the plain gold frame.

Not What It Claims
I would NOT recommend this product. I have attached a photo of what I received and I think you can see the dramatic difference. I kept the frame because it actually better fit the painting I used it on.

Now my problem is if this frame was so different from the catalog photo and after I emailed this to the company and was told that's the kind of variation you can expect, I can't see that I would order another frame because it to may not look like the catalog photo and this time may not work for the intended painting.

I'll be surprised if they post this response.

BEST ANSWER: Wish I were more helpful. I have bought several of their frames so I haven’t done the insert process. I am guessing that you have to take a jpeg of your painting. Then follow the upload process ???
It looks as if there are a pair of dotted lines on each side of the front of the frame when you look at the "whole frame" picture. Surely they are not on the frame?!
